Day 4: Sydney
30 December 2009

We arrived in Sydney at around 8am local time in a much more bearable temperature of around 23°. A short bus ride and we arrive at our hotel - the Four Points Sheraton, Darling Harbour. We're very early for our 3pm check in but our room is put on a priority list for cleaning and we're told we can check in in an hour. So with the hotel looking after our bags we take a look around some nearby shops and Sarah bought a pair of shoes (it has been nearly 24 hours since she last bought a pair!). We return to the hotel to find a fabulous room on the 14th floor waiting for us with a balcony overlooking the cosmopolitan Darling Harbour area.

After freshening up we ventured out into Sydney and visited the Sydney Tower, a viewing tower standing 260m above the centre of the city from which one can see for miles in all directions. We also visit 'Oz Trek', a virtual tour of Australia where the seats move to give the sensation of flying or driving or any other effect they had up their sleeves.

The jet lag is starting to catch up with us at this point so after a short walk around Darling Harbour we head back to the hotel room for an afternoon nap, disturbed only by the delivery of a bottle of champagne and chocolates courtesy of the hotel.

Just before heading out to get something to eat we get treated to an amazing sunset over Darling Harbour to photograph. We ate at a restaurant over looking Darling Harbour, both having steak and sharing a lovely blueberry cheesecake for dessert. A short walk around the harbour to help our meal go down and to take some photos of all the buildings lit up against the night sky lead us back to our hotel for the night.
