Day 34: Los Angeles
28 January 2010 (again!)

As we crossed the international date line shortly after take off, by the time we woke it was the morning of 28th January... again. A hot towel and an orange juice to freshen up and then it was time for breakfast which just kept coming - pastries, cereals, bacon & eggs, juices, yogurt, tea and coffee. I managed to have a good shave and freshen up before we descended into Los Angeles. Being business class, we left the plane first, our baggage came round the carousel as we walked up to it and after the expected finger printing and photographing at immigration we were out in LA in no time.

We checked our bags into our final flight to London (just World Traveller Plus this time - that's premium economy to you and me) and get something to eat at MacDonalds. Well, when in Rome and all that. A quick look round the duty free shops and it's time to go to the gate and board the plane. We take off on time and are soon heading over the city, the mountains, Las Vegas and The Hoover Dam and beyond. It's not business class but it's a whole lot better than economy and I think I may have my second best sleep on a plane ever tonight.

Day 35: London
29 January 2010

Didn't sleep much, they turned the lights out in the middle of the day according to my body clock. I watched GI Joe instead which was a poor excuse for a film and most of the rest of the on-demand video system. After breakfast we landed at Heathrow at 9:45am.

Our travels are over. Five weeks of all kinds of experiences we'll never forget draw to a close. Means of travel has been by car, campervan, aeroplane (large and small), boat (large and small too), a monorail and a few buses and taxis. We've been all the way around the world - something a generation or two ago would have been the reserve of the wealthy only - and gained a day in the process. The world is definitely getting smaller in travel terms. A wonderful trip, spent with a wonderful woman and an experience I'll never forget.
